Madonna Stuns with Star-Studded Short Film “Confessions II: The Film” Featuring Hits from Her New Album

Madonna is once again proving why she remains the queen of reinvention. Following her electrifying Coachella set, a dazzling night at The Abbey, and a surprise mini-concert on Times Square, the pop icon has unveiled a new piece of art: Confessions II: The Film. Clocking in at just over ten minutes, the short film brings together an all-star cast including Sabrina Carpenter, Benedict Cumberbatch, Feid, Hani Dijon, Debi Mazar, Kate Moss, Julia Garner, Odessa A’zion, Richard E. Grant, and even her daughter, Lourdes Leon.

The film premiered on June 4 at the Tribeca Festival, directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase, and fans were immediately captivated. Early reactions highlight the music as a standout: “It’s been ages since I felt Madonna this alive”, and many singled out Danceteria as a highlight. The track’s innovative blend of spoken-word snippets reminiscent of Vogue and its irresistible rhythm quickly drew listeners in.

Now available on YouTube, Confessions II features not only Danceteria but also songs like Bring Your Love, I Feel So Free, Good for the Soul, One Step Away, and the duet Read My Lips with Colombian singer Feid. Danceteria shines in a scene where Madonna enters a nightclub restroom and interacts with Benedict Cumberbatch, leaving viewers humming and wanting more.

At the Beacon Theatre presentation in New York, Madonna spoke about the six-month creative process, with Anderson Cooper moderating the discussion after Jimmy Fallon had to bow out. Filming took place across Los Angeles, London, and New York. Madonna explained that the short film reflects the spirit of her new album, highlighting human connections, encounters, and curiosity. She shared: “I step out of the solitude of my apartment and dive into a forest of people, their bodies bristling with lasers. You have to live, take risks, be curious, watch what’s happening… and put the damn phone away.”

The pop icon hinted at future performances but seems uninterested in a permanent Las Vegas residency like many of her peers. Her upcoming album, set for release on July 3, was crafted over eighteen months. Madonna emphasized that her goal was to create a cohesive dance experience while telling a meaningful story: “We wanted an album you can dance to from start to finish, something that takes you on a journey. By the end, it’s more reflective and intimate. I don’t want to make meaningless music. I want music that matters.”
