Charlie Heaton, famously known as Jonathan Byers from Stranger Things, is stepping into a new world of crime drama as he joins the Peaky Blinders spin-off, portraying Charles Shelby, the son of iconic gangster Thomas Shelby. The first images from the Birmingham set have surfaced, giving fans a glimpse of Heaton in his role for the very first time.

The series, set a decade after the end of World War II, follows Charles Shelby as he tries to forge a life away from the violent shadow of his family. Despite his attempts to stay clear of the criminal underworld, the legacy of the Shelby bloodline remains inescapable. Early shots show Heaton in a tense action scene, saving a woman played by Lucy Carchevski, hinting at the high-stakes storytelling fans have come to expect from the franchise.

Charles’s story will intertwine with his father Duke Shelby, played by Jamie Bell, adding layers of generational conflict and legacy. The cast also includes Jessica Brown Findlay and Lashana Lynch, promising a mix of familiar faces and fresh energy. The first season will span six episodes, with Cillian Murphy returning as executive producer and Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, scripting the continuation.

This spin-off comes after the original show concluded with six seasons and the feature film The Immortal Man, which gave viewers a final farewell to Thomas Shelby. Now, the Shelby saga enters a new era, exploring family ties, loyalty, and the consequences of growing up in the shadow of a criminal empire through the eyes of the next generation.
